From Our Lives to Yours — Why We Built Eras

Hi, we’re Natalie and Elise.

We started Eras because we’ve been exactly where so many women are today—searching for answers to concerns that don’t feel normal, feeling rushed through appointments, and left to connect the dots ourselves.

We wanted something different. Something better. Something we couldn’t find in the current healthcare system.

Natalie's Story

For 12 years, I lived with debilitating symptoms that disrupted half of every month. Since high school, I'd endured severe cramps and migraines, but was consistently told this was just "normal" for women. It wasn't until I began experiencing unexplained vomiting that a doctor finally took my concerns seriously enough to investigate.

The diagnosis was endometriosis—a painful condition affecting 1 in 10 women that had been silently impacting my life for over a decade. The years of delayed diagnosis came at a significant cost: tens of thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses for surgeries, IVF treatments, and countless other medical interventions. What stayed with me most wasn't just the physical pain or financial burden—it was feeling like a number in the system rather than a person with a story.

These experiences fundamentally changed me and ignited a passion to create something better for women's healthcare. I founded Eras with a clear vision: to build a practice where women receive care that honors their individual experiences, fits seamlessly into their lives, and addresses their complete health picture—not just their symptoms. At Eras, we're redefining what women's healthcare can look like, ensuring that no woman has to wait 12 years for answers or feel dismissed when seeking the care she deserves.

Elise's Story

I’ve spent my career helping companies grow—leading teams, managing complex operations, and serving as legal counsel for innovative businesses. But my perspective shifted when I faced my own health challenges and suddenly in my mid-50’s did not feel in control of my own body. That is difficult for anyone, but particularly hard for someone who is a bit of a control freak and who had long held the mistaken belief that I could grit through anything by asserting enough will power.

Like many women, I didn’t feel prepared to even ask the right questions of my health care providers so I began to research my symptoms... I was sleeping very little and struggling with hot flushes 24/7, vision distortion, brain fog, joint pain and other issues, all of this while balancing a very demanding career that I wasn’t ready to give up.   My journey was complicated by some other health challenges that were unexpected, but ultimately after a lot of time and effort and supportive providers, I began to feel at home in my body again.  While simultaneously navigating my own health journey, I started seeing close friends my age struggling with a plethora of symptoms and not sure what to do about them or where to start. That’s when aging in a healthy manner and staying strong into my wisdom era became a passion for me. I have continued reading and learning about the impact of perimenopause/menopause on the female body and how exercise, diet, supplementation and, where appropriate, the potential benefits of hormone replacement therapy, can together work to mitigate the long-term negative impacts of decreases of hormonal levels.

When Natalie and I started talking about what women’s healthcare could be, we kept coming back to the same idea: care that listens first, sees the whole picture, and evolves with each stage of life. Eras is our way of making that happen—for ourselves, for our friends and families, and for every woman who walks through our doors.  I want our next generations of women to be better equipped to enter these eras of their lives, educated to ask questions and demand the care they need.  I strongly believe we can do better for all women.
